Currently the UCDA has over 4400 members who are located in more than 500 Ontario municipalities.
Our members include independent dealers, new car or franchise dealers, leasing dealers, truck dealers and auto recyclers ? all of whom sell used vehicles to the public.
All UCDA members are registered dealers with the Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council (OMVIC), the industry's regulator.
UCDA members contribute to a Consumer Compensation Fund for the protection of consumers.
Dealer education is of paramount importance to the association and it's seen as the means of promoting a better, fairer marketplace for dealers and consumers.
Members are made aware of the rights and responsibilities of a dealer through meetings, newsletters and special publications that focus on key issues.
The UCDA introduced Canada's first education course for dealers and salespeople in 1997, and followed it with another first, a comprehensive in-class course for salespeople a year later. Over 3000 dealers and salespeople have been enrolled in the courses.
Consumer Mediation Process
Have a concern or a problem with a recent used vehicle purchase?
Most often, dealers and their customers find their own solutions, but some problems need a little extra help to solve.
The Used Car Dealers Association of Ontario may be able to help you! The UCDA offers a fast, free and fair mediation service that has been helping consumers and dealers resolve their differences for over 20 years.
Mediation is available even if the dealer is not a UCDA member!
Most UCDA mediations settle the problem within a day or two. Mediations are conducted by the UCDA's on-staff lawyers, by phone, fax or email
